[Bug 1153717] [NEW] /usr/sbin/grub-probe: error: no such disk during preseed install

Public bug reported:

1. Description of the problem: 
Preseed installation using full disk encryption works on a virtual machine but fails on bare metal with the following message at the end of the syslog file.

The machine used is using a Dell PERC H310 PCIe host-based RAID card
which is considered fake-RAID.

Mar  7 13:41:23 grub-installer: info: Running chroot /target grub-install  --no-floppy --force "/dev/sda"
Mar  7 13:41:24 grub-installer: /usr/sbin/grub-probe: error: no such disk.
Mar  7 13:41:24 grub-installer: Auto-detection of a filesystem of /dev/mapper/vg-root failed.

An output if the following command is attached to this bug.
mount --bind /proc /target/proc 
mount --bind /dev /target/dev 
mount --bind /sys /target/sys 
chroot /target 
/usr/sbin/grub-probe --device-map="/boot/grub/device.map" --target=fs -vv /boot/grub > grub-probe.out 2>&1 

2. Ubuntu release, software version, Release Number and Architecture of
the selected components.

Ubuntu 12.04.2 LTS
