Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and make Ubuntu better.
You can use "apt-cache search ^zlib" to find packages where the name or
description starts with 'zlib'. On Raring this returns only 17 items,
and it's fairly easy to figure out from that which is needed.
** Changed in: zlib (Ubuntu)
Status: New => Invalid

Title:
Package description doesn't mention it actually is Zlib
Status in “zlib” package in Ubuntu:
Invalid
Bug description:
I needed to install Zlib in order to compile another package.
"apt-cache search Zlib" output did contain zlib1g package name, but there's no clue on how to chose among the 70 suggested packages.
The solution has been to run "apt-cache show <package name> | grep -i zlib" on all 70 output package names in order to find it out. This is unacceptable.
"apt-cache search zlib" output should have a line saying:
"zlib1g - Zlib compression library - runtime" and not just
"zlib1g - compression library - runtime"
