  can't enable dma on dvd-writer

Status in “hdparm” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  I can't enable dma on my SONY DVD-RW on hardy. the ide device name is
  /dev/hdb.

  sudo hdparm -d1 /dev/hdb:
  /dev/hdb:
   setting using_dma to 1 (on)
   HDIO_SET_DMA failed: Operation not permitted
   using_dma     =  0 (off)

  i added
  "piix
  ide-core"
  to the top of my /etc/modules and to /etc/initramfs-tools/modules and added to hdparm.conf:
  /dev/hdb {
  dma = on
  }

  but still, it's not working.. now i'm out of ideas..
