[Bug 1159052] [NEW] Unable to install bootloader

Public bug reported:

I downloaded an Ubuntu 12.04 disc image and burned it to CD earlier this
week. I used that CD in a live session on my new Samsung 520u4c laptop
a couple times this week. Because of the recent problems installing
linux on Samsung hardware using UEFI, I switched my boot from UEFI/CMS
hybrid to CMS only and loaded another live session. From that live
session, I chose to install Ubuntu. I chose to reset the partitions and
format the full disc. At the end of the install session, I get a fatal
error that says it canot install the bootloader. It warns me away from
cancelling the installation. Continuing without the bootloader seems
dangerous. And all the partitions that are listed to possibly install
the bootloader lead to fatal errors.

I'm still in a live session now. It's prompting me to restart, but I'd
like to resolve the bootloader issue before doing so. How should I
proceed?
