  Update manager will not start

Status in “update-manager” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
  When I try to launch the software updater from unity or by doing $
  gksudo update-manager the application does not launch, and from time
  to time I get a crash report that I'm prompted to send off. I've tried
  reinstalling the program, checked dependencies and such things.
