Hi Robert,
That's interesting. It does work on mine Raring (both of them); but I
_do_ have libcap2 installed.
Libcap2 is a dependency for policycorelinux, but I cannot see any
depends that would zero in coreutils except for selinux-related. So, if
licap2 is now a hard dependency for coreutils, we will need to adjust
the package. But nobody else has reported, to my knowledge, anything
like this...
I will rename the libcap.so.2, and try 'ls' here in a few.

Bug description:
With raring all updates installed as of 8th of May 2013, ls does not work. When a terminal is started, the message ":ls: error while loading shared libraries: libcap.so.2: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory" is displayed, just like when trying to run ls.
When checking /usr/lib, libcap.so.2 does not exist indeed, instead there is libcap-ng.so.0.
