Title:
No progress during disk formatting (progress bar sticks at 5%)

Status in “ubiquity” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
When: Installing kubuntu desktop 7.10 RC1, after approving manual disk
  partitioning.

What happens: The progress meter does not go beyond 5%, even though
(it turns out) the formatting is actually progressing.

Why it's a problem: This can cause the user to believe the formatting
process has hung, so that the user attempts to close the installer
while it is still formatting. If closing the installer doesn't go
smoothly, user may attempt to reboot system. Even if installer closes
smoothly, user will hit the problem again on the next attempt, and
even if they suss out the matter they've still wasted time.

Will attach system info to filed report.
