  screen brightness adjustment does not work

Status in “acpi-support” package in Ubuntu:
  Expired

Bug description:
  I am using Hardy (64-bit) on my Gateway E-265M (integrated graphics).
  Neither the fn key nor the pulldown menu screen adjustments seem to
  work.  The screen is stuck on full brightness and will not change.

  Forgive me for the brief explanation as I am somewhat new to Ubuntu.
