Current releases of Ubuntu allow you to interactively skip filesystem
checks of any filesystems, which I think addresses this request.

Title:
Disable file system check at boot time

Status in “sysvinit” package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: initscripts

  Hi,
I would very much like to see the following feature: a way to disable the filesystem check's at boot time. This could be done for example by adding a command line paramenter to the kernel or similar.

The checkroot.sh and checkfs.sh scripts allready abort file system
checks if /fastboot is available, but this requires, that I'm able to
boot the system and create the /fastboot file, which may be
incovennient or impossible in some cases.

  - Martin.
