  splash screen does not work with xubuntu

Status in “plymouth” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
  After a fresh install of xubuntu 12.04, the splash screen normally
  seen when booting up is not present. Only the words sparse file not
  allowed is shown on the screen for 20 seconds until the gui starts.
