Title:
Memtest86+ gives false errors on Apple machines

Status in “memtest86+” package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: memtest86+

Memtest86+ that comes with 8/10 install CD gives false errors on Apple
machines. I have tested this on three different Macbooks, and they all
  are the same.

According to Google, you should skip the first 1.2 megabytes of memory
on Apple machines, because they are mapped to something else
completely (HW registers etc). According to screen output, memtest86+
skips only the first 144 kB. The result is tons of "memory errors"
  that are not errors.

This should be fixed, or at the very least the live CD should print a
  warning before running memtest.
