This option you have in Software center to remove a package. Many
libraries are used by so many applications you can't install.

Title:
  Feature request: Option to remove packages in Update Manager

Status in “update-manager” package in Ubuntu:
  Opinion

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: update-manager

  Sometimes I know I won't use some package so I want to remove it
  instead of updating it. To know better whether I need a package, there
  should be information about (installed) packages that depend on the
  package (recursively).
