It isn't really the job of individual command man pages to remind you
that init scripts don't run connected to a tty, that is just something
you need to remember when working with init scripts, and is explained in
the upstart man pages.

Title:
  setterm -powersave fails

Status in “util-linux” package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
regardless of the argument to -powersave, setterm complains

setterm: cannot (un)set powersave mode: Invalid argument

  see also Bug #1239263 /etc/kbd/config ignores POWERDOWN_TIME

thus there appears to be no way (without X) to powerdown the display,
and hence ubuntu servers w/o X don't play well as energy conscious citizens.
