You seem to have installed the unity package although you are running a
kubuntu system.  This is preventing the upgrade from continuing as the
release upgrader is refusing to remove the unity package.

  Cannot upgrade to saucy

Status in “ubuntu-release-upgrader” package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
  I've emptied my /etc/apt/sources.list.d/ and /etc/apt/sources.list is
  the orginal one. Still I cannot upgrade to saucy. I get this error
  message:
