[Bug 1242758] Re: no feedback when doing fsck after unclean shutdown

In 13.10, the output from mountall has been redirected to
/var/log/upstart/mountall.log, which will only be written once the root
filesystem has been mounted read-write. So you're right that you won't
get feedback on the console about what's going on with the fsck.

But why are you looking for these details, specifically? The splash
screen should show you that the filesystem is being checked, and show
you a progress counter (% done). Is this part not working?

Title:
no feedback when doing fsck after unclean shutdown

Status in “plymouth” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
When the system was shut down abruptly fsck will be forced during next
boot. Up to now it was possible to get a feedback when pressing <ESC>
or <UpArrow> - although no progress was shown a message was displayed
like "/dev/sda1 not cleanly unmounted, check forced.". By now no such
message is displayed even when looking for console output.

I think a feedback should be given even in splash screen. Like the
feedback when doing fsck after x mounts..
