  dist-upgrade to kubuntu 13.10 crashes

Status in “ubuntu-release-upgrader” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  After the installation from 13.04 to 13.10 has run to approx. 50%
  completion, I got an error message. The message was something like the
  upgrade could not complete and the system may be in an un-usable
  state. The upgrader hangs. I have not yet tried to reboot.
