Public bug reported:
There are certain time when , while updating via the update manager does not work due to unmet dependencies. At this point the users have to fall back to the "dreaded" terminal.
Although the fix may be as simple as "sudo apt-get install -f", this may be a daunting task for anyone who is
1. A person who hates the terminal (windows or a mac user)
2. A person who does not know much about computers/technology
3. A super busy executive
4. A child who wants to just play games
5. An elderly person
To enable smooth fixing and improving the user experience, adding an
option to run sudo apt-get install -f ( fix broken packages checkbox)
from the update manager gui would be very useful. This option should be
enabled when an error is received when installing updates or installing
.deb packages.
** Affects: update-manager (Ubuntu)
Importance: Undecided
Status: New
