You should probably try using:
sudo dpkg-reconfigure tzdata
Is this still happening or is it solved?

Title:
timezone changed to America/Adak
Status in “tzdata” package in Ubuntu:
New
Bug description:
Binary package hint: tzdata
At install I selected America/Indiana/Indianapolis as my timezone.
After the most recent update to tzdata (2011e-1) my timezone was
changed to America/Adak. Here are the relevant lines from the
terminal during install:
Setting up tzdata (2011e-1) ...
Current default time zone: 'America/Adak'
Local time is now: Mon Apr 4 13:46:31 HADT 2011.
Universal Time is now: Mon Apr 4 22:46:31 UTC 2011.
Run 'dpkg-reconfigure tzdata' if you wish to change it.
The UTC time listed was correct however the local time was not. Manually changing my timezone back to America/Indiana/Indianapolis using 'dpkg-reconfigure tzdata' as recommended fixed the problem.
