I apologise for the disruption, but everyone who has filed this bug
should be aware that they are running saucy-proposed.  The Ubuntu
development team *explicitly recommends against doing this*.  While we
are in the development cycle, -proposed is *only* for automatic testing,
and it is counterproductive for real people to run it.  Please disable
saucy-proposed before the next thing goes wrong; we would much rather
that you spent your valuable bug-reporting time on a single target,
namely saucy on its own.

grub2 (2.00-18ubuntu3) saucy; urgency=low

  * Fix recordfail-disabling patch to take account of the GRUB_PREFIX
    variable no longer existing.

  Today I've received an update in Ubuntu Saucy (64bit) to grub 2
  2.00-18ubuntu2 (currently in proposed) and the upgrade failed with the
  following error: "grub-probe: error: failed to get canonical path of
  ."

  Downgrading to the previous  2.00-18ubuntu1 version fixes this.
