I don't know that it does.  Looks somewhat unrelated, but we'd need to
see more detail as to the actual problem.  This bug is the wrong place,
but perhaps ubuntu-users at lists.ubuntu.com or https://askubuntu.com/
could analyse it.

Bug description:
  Today I've received an update in Ubuntu Saucy (64bit) to grub 2
  2.00-18ubuntu2 (currently in proposed) and the upgrade failed with the
  following error: "grub-probe: error: failed to get canonical path of
  ."

  Downgrading to the previous  2.00-18ubuntu1 version fixes this.
