Title:
Icon suggests I right click, which doesn't help
Status in “update-notifier” package in Ubuntu:
Triaged
Bug description:
Install something which results in a broken package (like corsix-th from http://code.google.com/p/corsix-th/ for example - it requires lua-filesystem which isn't in 12.04).
Note a "No Entry" sign in the notification area.
Click on it to see the text:-
"An error occurred, please run Package Manager from the right-click
menu or apt-get in a terminal to see what is wrong". Followed by some
more text.
There's a couple of things wrong with this.
1) There is no "Package Manager" on the "right click menu"
2) Running "apt-get in a terminal" just shows the help for apt-get.
So it's pretty unhelpful to anyone who has this problem, and would be
exactly the kind of person who needs this help.
It should possibly suggest running specific apt-get commands, or maybe
link to a document on the wiki explaining how to get out of this mess?
