Title:
Uses separate /boot and ext2 for automatic partioning with LVM and
  GRUB2

Status in “partman-auto” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: partman-auto

  Hi

Automatic partitioning of the hard disk for use with root on LVM and
GRUB2 with the lucid alpha 3 netboot image will create a /boot ext2
  partition a / ext4 partition. I found it surprizing that ext2 is
still picked up here -- why not ext4 as well? Also, do we really need
  a /boot partition with GRUB2?

(Size of the hard disk was modest at 1.5 GB; not sure whether that
  plays a role)

  Thanks,
