Status in “usb-creator” package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
  When the image you want to use is not found in your home directory and
  you click on "other" and navigate to the image you want to use and
  click ok, it is ignored and the originally selected image of those
  found in your home directory remains selected and is used instead.
