Another thing might needed to be mentioned is that, with the new version
of grub(beta2~9, uefi machine), "grub-install --recheck /dev/sdX" just
print out "Installing for x86_64-efi platform."and then "Installation
finished. No error reported". But with the previous verion (2.0), this
command will also print out the BootOrder (for two times) and all the
boot options.
If you want to fix the problem using boot-repair, do NOT using the 14.04
livecd and manually installing boot-repair (since there's no ppa source
for 14.04 so far). Try to use the boot-repair cd here:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/boot-repair-cd/. I tried to boot with
14.04 and manually install boot-repair to fix the boot problem. But it
didn't work out. There's always an error in the end. But with the boot-
repair-cd. It did work.
Hope this might help.

Bug description:
The update from 13.10 to 14.04 via update-manager broke grub for me,
which resulted in the grub error:
"symbol 'grub_term_highlight_color' not found"
on startup.
To fix the problem I had to boot to my persisting Ubuntu installation
(e.g. using Super Grub Disk) and had to reinstall grub on my boot
partition: "sudo grub-install --recheck /dev/sdx"
