At least at some point in the past, you had used these disks in an intel
matrix storage fake raid array. If you do not wish to use them that way
any more, you need to erase the raid signatures from the disks, either
using the bios raid utility, or with sudo dmraid -E.

Title:
ubiquity partition step does not show some hard drives
Status in “ubiquity” package in Ubuntu:
Invalid
Bug description:
In Ubuntu 14.04 amd64, I'm experiencing this old bug:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubiquity/+bug/459054
during the partition step of the installer, sda is not coming up at all either in manual partition or automatically partition.
I have three other disks, sdb is data, sdc is windows 7 and sdd is /home
none of the drives are mounted. All are visible in gparted.
Tried disconnecting all other drives. No difference.
Tried swapping SATA cables to drives that were detected (windows). No success.
Searching took me to bug 459054 and the following workaround from
Richard Bailey
"On the live cd I uninstalled the dmraid package, restarted the
installer and now sda shows."
The workaround was successful on 14.04.
Apologies that the logs not included - the install is now running and
I didn't have time to repeat.
