This is very strange: according to syslog, /dev/sdc4 was mounted as
swap, but according to partman, /dev/sdc has no partition number 4. Can
you run sudo fdisk -l and post the output?

Title:
Installer hangs on "Preparing to install" if swap is mounted
Status in ubiquity package in Ubuntu:
Incomplete
Bug description:
I tried to install Ubuntu 14.10 by booting it from a USB stick. I am
able to select the language and check the boxes at the next page, but
when I hit "Continue", the cursor changes to a waiting cursor and
nothing else happens.
Then, I chose "Try Ubuntu", started the Disk Manager and saw that two
swap partitions had ben automatically mounted. Unmounting these with
swapoff did the trick, now the installer is running.
The attached debug information have been taken *after* umounting the
swap partitions because I only then learned about the ubuntu-bug
command. I hope they are still valuable.
