Bug description:
When installing third-party packages that depend on ntfsprogs and
support multiple Ubuntu versions, the dependency check fails on Raring
Ringtail since the ntfs-3g package does not indicate it replaces
ntfsprogs (source: aptitude show ntfs-3g). I suspect this was
overlooked in Raring as ntfsprogs was dropped (not provided) in
Raring. Unfortunately, some third-party packages will still address
ntfsprogs for sometime and it would be helpful if ntfs-3g would
satisfy the dependency.
I have filed a bug with the third-party provider as well.
