You are using a bios based machine but the GUID partition table.  This
requires you to create a 1 mb bios_grub partition on the disk to install
grub.

  grub installation fails at my hdd

  Invalid

Bug description:
  xubuntu 14.10 installation on ACER M5 20GB SSD (where I chose / to be)
  and 500GB HDD (where I choose /home to be). The BIOS doesn see the
  ssd. I try to install the grub bootloader on the HDD without success
