A quick google of

 "archive.ubuntu.com_ubuntu_dists_saucy_universe_i18n_Translation-en,
E:The package lists or status file could not be parsed or opened."

found at least the following bugs at launchpad 1242090, 1249579 and
1267138 not to mention dozens of related hits. Each of these bugs is
said to affect only one person.

Am I the only one to connect the dots? I'm not even running Ubuntu, I
hit this problem downstream in Linux Mint 16 and AFAIK they haven't
connected the dots either.
