Can you please give me the freedesktop bug report link? It's impossible
to map an attachment URL back to the bug URL.

This was fixed upstream in
http://cgit.freedesktop.org/systemd/systemd/commit/?id=35bffce and thus
is fixed in trusty.

** Package changed: udev (Ubuntu) => systemd (Ubuntu)

** Summary changed:

- function keys for screen brightness not working in Samsung Series 9
+ [keymap] Samsung Series 9 900X4C-A05 brightness keys

** Changed in: systemd (Ubuntu)
       Status: New => Fix Released

Title:
[keymap] Samsung Series 9 900X4C-A05 brightness keys

Status in “systemd” package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
The function keys for controlling screen brightness for the Samsung
Serie 9 900X4C-A05 laptop are not working. When the keys are pressed,
a note is shown that the brightness is adjusted - however, it does not
really happen. I would expect upon key pess that the note is shown and
that the brightness is actually adjusted according to the pressed
  keys.

  A fix is described in
  https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=65281, however that one
aims at Systemd, and thus the patch needs adjustments to work with
  udev, upstart and the like.

The Ubuntu version is 13.10, the udev package version is
  204-0ubuntu18.
