Title:
System partitioner in 8.10 beta very slow to load

Status in “ubiquity” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
The system partitioner during setup of ubuntu 8.10 beta desktop takes
a good four minutes to work out how to display all my disks in my
computer. This is after the progress bar finishes. I am guessing the
new partition graphics take longer to calculate.

I have around 800GB of disks in the computer in total.

In 8.04 the partition editor took about 30 seconds to load, and didn't
stall after the progress bar had reached the end and hidden itself.
