You are using GPT to partition your disk but are not using UEFI.  This
requires you to create a 1 MB bios_grub partition.

Bug description:
  ubuntu 13.04
  when installing to a new disk it went fine till final step, error on grub
  Boot disk ext2
  BIOS option AHCI and GPT partition
  i've tried changing GPT,to MBR,AHCI to IDE, or using boot repair
  also tried Mint install
  same result
