Title:
Sometimes upgradable packages aren't in update-manager
Status in “update-manager” package in Ubuntu:
New
Bug description:
Xubuntu 13.04 Raring
Package versions:
update-manager 1:0.186.2
update-notifier 0.134
synaptic 0.80~exp2raring1
Right now, if I click the update-notifier systray icon, the first
(grayed-out) menu entry says "There are 7 updates available." If I
have Synaptic show me packages whose Status is "Installed
(upgradable)," I see iproute, 4 of libdrm*, libpixman-1-0, and
libxfont1. That adds up to 7 as expected. But in update-manager,
only libdrm* and libxfont1 are shown, not iproute or libpixman-1-0.
What is expected to happen is that update-manager will show all of the
packages that are counted in the update-notifier menu & listed as
upgradable in Synaptic.
When I first noticed this issue, update-notifier & Synaptic showed
only 6 upgradable packages. A rescan of the repos for updated
packages ("apt-get update" triggered via a GUI) then added libxfont1
to the list/count shown in all 3 programs, but didn't make iproute or
libpixman-1-0 show up in update-manager.
Restarting the computer also didn't correct the update-manager list.
I don't know how often this issue can happen or what is special about
the packages that are missing from update-manager.
