Except I'm having trouble with playing videos on facebook and youtube.
The video window is very strange, but the rest of the screen is fine.
I've updated all software, including firefox. I tried and failed to
update Adobe flash. (had a unspecified problem that seems to linger
when I re-attempt).

Title:
Ubuntu 12.04.3 - 32bit installation failed
Status in “ubiquity” package in Ubuntu:
New
Bug description:
The installer "crashed" after spending a lot of time downloading
language packages. However, it must have been largely successful,
because I'm typing this on the same machine immediately following the
crash. Weird. No desktop visible, though. Just a Firefox window.
This is not a parallel installation, but rather a complete replacement
of windows XP professional. I saw the Ubuntu desktop working briefly
on this machine on an earlier trial, so I was confident enough to go
for the replacement. Maybe I jumped too soon because now my sytemt
has no working operating system. It's "bricked." :(
