Virtually all machines made within the last 10-15 years do not have this
limitation, and due to the fragility of the msdos partition scheme, we
don't want to create a /boot partition by default.

Bug description:
  attempted to install ubuntu off internet disk, worked good but would
  not install. So I ordered 9/04 disk from ubuntu, installed it, now I
  get the above error message and neither ubuntu or windows will load,
  only can access ubuntu from cd rom disc
