Dimitri,
I see.
If it installed the boot loader and the kernel (which are already present on the desk image) then it could put the Ubuntu Core file system.
Else, how about the possibility of installing mini.iso from the desktop image?
The desktop image already contains everything in mini.iso as mini.iso is a subset of the Ubuntu desktop image.
So it would be nice if the desktop ISO supported installing "mini"
instead of the full desktop experience.

Title:
Add option to install Ubuntu Core from the Ubuntu Desktop image
Status in “ubiquity” package in Ubuntu:
Won't Fix
Bug description:
In the installer you can press F6 to get an option to install "free
software only".
I would like there to be an option "Ubuntu Core only" that installs only the Ubuntu Core packages.
Basically kernel, sh, and apt.
