This problem has repeatedly appeared on my machine (14.04) over the last
few weeks.
When it happens, I delete the file "/var/lib/apt/lists/za.archive.ubuntu
.com_ubuntu_dists_trusty-updates_universe_i18n_Translation-en", run
"apt-get update" and "apt-get upgrade" and it goes away.
However, a few days later, the same problem occurs.

Title:
update-manager: An unresolvable problem occurred
Status in “update-manager” package in Ubuntu:
Confirmed
Bug description:
I tried to update my software. Got this popup message:
Software Updater
An unresolvable problem occurred while initialising the package information.
Please report this bug for the 'update-manager' package and try to include the following error message:
E:Encountered a section with no Package: header, E:Problem with MergeList /var/lib/apt/lists/za.archive.ubuntu.com_ubuntu_dists_trusty-updates_universe_i18n_Translation-en, E:The package lists or status file could not be parsed or opened.
(I'm not sure if this is related to my Ubuntu Software Centre not
wanting to run)
