Your machine uses EFI so you must create a 100 MB EFI system partition
to boot, and mount it in /boot/efi.

  Installation on a PC HP Envy crashed at grub installation

Status in “grub-installer” package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
  I was installing Ubuntu on a HP Envy laptop.
  With this partitions:
  / on sdb1 (SSD Samsung 32 GB)
  /home on sda2 (Hitachi HDD)
  <swap> 10GB on sda1

  Grub installed (by default) on drive sda.

  Grub installation crashed with no other possibility that sending a bug
  in launchpad (no other location proposed like in other defect in
  launchpad)
