Public bug reported:
(K)Ubuntu (all versions since 2011 up to 14.04 daily) on my Dell N7110 laptop hangs while booting when any device is plugged into the USB 3.0 ports. No problem with 2.0 ports. Disabling acpi fixes it (apci=off boot parameter), but then gpu switching does not work.
Now i'm stuck with disconnecting my devices from the ub 3.0 ports, wait till the Kubuntu sign shows up on the screen and then reconnect them before the system gets to mount my external drive from fstab.
