  Unable to install Ubuntu 13.10 on GA-880GM-USB3 (64 bit)

Status in “ubiquity” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
  Downloaded and installed 13.10 on usb, boot, get the Ubuntu logo and
  red and white dots. Screen then goes black and am left at a console
  login prompt. This was NOT an upgrade. I performed this as a fresh
  install.

  12.04 installs fine with no issues on the very same hardware.
