[Bug 1296163] Re: GUI updater does nothing when I authenticate and from a terminal I get Could not determine the upgrade An unresolvable problem occurred while calculating the upgrade.

Reviewing the files from your upgrade attempt you seem to have enabled
the xorg-edgers-ppa. This will prevent the upgrade as that PPA contains
different versions of packages essential to Ubuntu. The page,
https://launchpad.net/~xorg-edgers/+archive/ppa, contains details on to
how to revert to the official Xorg packages. Thanks

Title:
GUI updater does nothing when I authenticate and from a terminal I get
Could not determine the upgrade An unresolvable problem occurred
  while calculating the upgrade.

Status in “ubuntu-release-upgrader” package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
I am using 13.04 and am trying to upgrade to 13.10.

Using the Software Updater (GUI), it tells me that there is a new
version of Ubuntu available (13.10), and when I click the Upgrade
button it asks me to authenticate. When I enter my password and hit
the Authenticate button, all windows disappear and nothing happens.

I then used "do-release-upgrade" in a terminal, and here is the error:

  Checking package manager
  Reading package lists... Done
  Building dependency tree
  Reading state information... Done
  Building data structures... Done

  Could not determine the upgrade

An unresolvable problem occurred while calculating the upgrade.

  This can be caused by:
  * Upgrading to a pre-release version of Ubuntu
  * Running the current pre-release version of Ubuntu
  * Unofficial software packages not provided by Ubuntu

If none of this applies, then please report this bug using the
  command 'ubuntu-bug ubuntu-release-upgrader-core' in a terminal.
