Title:
Steam and gksudo don't play nicely
Status in “sudo” package in Ubuntu:
Expired
Bug description:
1. Steam.exe (the Valve software distribution channel) is set to load as one of my startup applications (under wine, of course).
2. One of my other startup applications is "gksudo firestarter", which loads firestarter with root privileges.
3. I boot my computer.
Now, Steam manages to load before my wireless network has had a chance
to connect, so Steam gives an error and offers to retry or work in
offline mode. Meanwhile, gksudo has darkened the rest of the screen
and is requesting a password, and has the keyboard's focus. But the
gksudo password input window is entirely behind the Steam error
window. Steam's window cannot be moved and its buttons don't work
while the gksudo password prompt is active. So in order to proceed, I
need to type my password into an imaginary password entry prompt (it
looks as though I'm typing the password into Steam). The Steam window
should be behind the password entry box (or gksudo should place itself
in front of Steam).
Karmic alpha 3, latest everything.
[Please correct my package choice.]
Richard
