I've backported and tested this patch on precise and it allows me to set
MTU on manual interfaces.

Bug description:
  1. Ubuntu 12.04/14.04

  3. Expected: That MTU will be set with the mtu option
  4. What happens:  You need to use pre-up/post-up ifconfig mtu to set the option
