** Description changed:
I have an existing Ubuntu 12.04 installation set up using encrypted LVM
(plus a 250MB /boot) as setup by the "alternate install CD" of 12.04.
When starting Ubuntu 14.04 and choosing to delete the harddisk, while
setting up my time zone I get an error that the partitions cannot be
created and I should try manually. However, I am not given the chance to
do so. After setting up time zones and my user account, the installer
hangs indefinitely at "Creating ext4 file system for /, ubuntu-vg, ..."
(approximate wording, as I remember it). No system activity at all after
this.
+
+ Retrying the installer with a "clean" harddisk (deleting all partitions
+ using 'cfdisk') throws an error: "Error while configuring encrypted
+ disks. Configuration aborted".
