Bug description:
  After a recent dist-upgrade, startup and shutdown of my laptop (a
  Lenovo IdeaPad Y510P with only Ubuntu on it), hang. I am using Ubuntu
  +1. The contents of my sources.list is at

  When starting up, the machine hangs after CUPS finishes booting up,
  hanging without any kind of status displayed. I can bypass this
  problem by starting in recovery mode, enabling networking, dropping in
  as root and starting LightDM manually. This gives me access to the
  full graphical environment, though /dev/shm is not mounted properly.
  There may be other problems caused by this that I do not know about
  yet.

  When shutting down, whether from Unity, the recovery mode prompt, or
  the hung boot screen, the process proceeds mostly normally until
  unattended-upgrades tries to run. It then errors out when the script
  imports apt_pkg: apparently, the module no longer exists on my system.
  Reinstalls of python-debian do not help. If the power button, C-c, or
  C-M-Delete are pressed after this error, the shutdown sequence
  continues but never completes ending up in an infinite loop around
  storing the system clock state. A force power down is the only way to
  exit, and this leaves the hard drive with a dirty bit, forcing fsck to
  run on boot.
