Title:
Manual partitioning shows Debian dialog about formatting partitions
  mounted as root and swap

Status in “ubiquity” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
  Release 14.10; Ubiquity 2.20.0

Using manual partitioning on an Asus X201E (efi), I mounted a pre-
existing partition to be formatted as root. After clicking Install
Now, I got the warning dialog that is typical when installing Debian
that both the / partition and the swap partition would be reformatted
and all data destroyed. Since this is not normal in the Ubuntu
installation and I have several other distros installed, I told it not
to use the swap partition. This was followed by the usual Debian
warning about lack of swap with an offer to return to the partitioner.
  I continued without swap.

Installation media was a usb drive that I reformatted before burning
the image. I had previously used the same usb media to install to an
Asus X401 (efi). This installation had proceeded normally for Ubuntu.
After mounting a partition as root, I did not receive a dialog, and
swap on the other distros was fine after installation.

I re-ran both installations in order to make sure it was reproducible.
The same thing happened: a normal Ubuntu experience on the X401, but
the Debian warning dialogs on the X201E. This time I had learned a
little more about how swap is handled during the install, so I clicked
Continue in the warning dialog. The installation was normal other than
seeing the dialog: swap was formatted but had the original UUID
  restored.

But I'm not sure why the same Ubuntu installation media would produce
the Debian warning dialogs at all and only a particular machine.
