Is this still the case that a default install of Ubuntu doesn't enable
programmable completion out of the box? Not much point making bash-
completion a standard-priority package if it's not enabled by default.
my /etc/bash.bashrc still has the lines
# if [ -f /usr/share/bash-completion/bash_completion ]; then
# . /usr/share/bash-completion/bash_completion
# elif ...
there but commented out (since I've had my and other users' ~/.bashrc source it for years).

Title:
bash programmable completion not loaded by default
Status in bash-completion package in Ubuntu:
Confirmed
Bug description:
I don't know it's bug or feature, but [TAB] autocomplete won't work
with sudo on 13.04 (and 12.10 too). To fix this, you need to uncomment
some lines in /etc/bash.bashrc and then [TAB] autocomplete will work.
