Public bug reported:
I just installed Ubuntu 14.04.1 for four times on my PC. First 3 times I
was unable to load up Ubuntu, I kept getting "cryptsetup failed: bad
passphrase or options". For the first two installations I picked the
same security key that contained four words (including one capital
letter) separated by spaces and ended with following 5 characters 1iY_:
. For the third attempt I used the same key but changed the last 5
characters into ;AUj* . I was unable to load up any of these 3 systems I
installed. I finally changed the last 5 characters into xZT9t and was
able to load up Ubuntu.
It is weird that only after creating the security key you get to choose
the keyboard layout. However it was correct by default (finnish) and
when I tested the textbox I was able to type the password correctly.
Therefore I believe that I did give the right key earlier in the
installation.
Would be nice if this could be fixed cause I spent hours figuring out
what I'm doing wrong. At least there should be a warning in the
installer when picking a security key that special characters may cause
issues.
