Public bug reported:

Unable to upgrade to Ubuntu 14.04 LTS from Ubuntu 12.04 LTS. Upgrade
process stops at the "Unable to calculate the upgrade" error, and dumps
out. 12.04 LTS is fully up to date. Running a dual-boot setup with
Windows 7 as the alternative OS, still using the GRUB loader with a
minor customization to prefer Windows over Linux on unattended boot up.
There is a warning about third party drivers, because of the video or
networking drivers (I believe) on the Dell Inspiron 1440 laptop
computer.
