Me too. Kubuntu 14.04.1 64bit
Seems to be an old (>1 year) problem:

Title:
Kubuntu setup / install encryption keyfile creation failure when
setting up luks
Status in “ubiquity” package in Ubuntu:
Confirmed
Bug description:
While setting up kubuntu 13.10 and attempting to manually partition
free space as encrypted volume, it fails with "keyfile creation
failure"
I've verified that creating a luks partition does work from the server
installer.
